Zumbi on Rock Attitude
Zumbi, that recently released the new track “Fear”, had a little chat with Rock Attitude
In your own words, how woud you describe Zumbi?
– We are a combination of music that we love Alternative, Hip-Hop, a little pop.
How did you start the band?
– We started the band about 25 years ago, stopped made a album and never released it. Now we are back together to release the album and possibly play again.
Who were you musical influences to start with the band?
– I started with my love of old school funk, but when I got into high school that when my musical tast really take off. The clash, New Order, Prince, every type of music. I was music crazy LOL.
What is your aim with Zumbi?
– Just to put out music that touches the world, music that make you think.
Your singing style is very accessible! Is this conscious or unconscious?
– I really music that touches people, that way I like to sing with passion. I want you feel everything that I singing about, every word and emotion into it.
In your new song "Fear", the style is even more catchier than before. What do you think and do you plan another full album in the near future?
– Yes, we are already working on the new album, but now where coming into the future, but with the same passion. But Jason is going to be rapping on about 4 song this time. He brings the fire.
Are you going to change your musical style on the future recordings?
– No, we are going to be all over the place like last time. We just let the music take its own course.
Your melodies are really catchy! How do you work the composition?
– Jason and Jerry give me beats and I just pick the ones I like. I listen to the songs and figure what is the song saying to me. I then listen while I driving, sing melodies and write.
What about live performances? Do you enjoy being on stage?
– I love performing live, so I can't wait till we perform again, buy after we work on the new album first.
Is this hard to keep the band flowing along with your personal lives?
– Yes, because Jerry is married so he has to think about his wife. Jason is married with 2 boys, so they come first in his life. I am the only on not married, so I just have to think about me LOL.
