Crosson on Rock Attitude

Theatrical glam rockers Crosson released the album “Guilty Of Rock” and Rock Attitude had a little chat with the band for the interview that follows.
Theatricality is a huge part of Crosson’s identity. How does “Guilty Of Rock” push that spectacle even further, both musically and visually?
– With this album, we had new costumes made slightly changed the makeup. You still know its CROSSON but we needed to shake things up a bit. Musically, securing Erik Martensson this time round to mix and master the album gave us a grandiose sonic boom and took us to another level.
The title “Guilty Of Rock” is bold and defiant. What inspired that name—and who or what are you standing trial against?
– As you may have noticed, we like to use to incorporate the word ‘Rock’ in our album titles. When the title and chorus popped into my head, I knew it would rub some people up the wrong way but in reality ‘Guilty Of Rock’ is a tribute to rock fans, both past and present, who have stood by and defended their love and passion for this genre of music. Despite facing adversity and criticism, we can proudly raise our fists in the air and declare we are all ‘Guilty Of Rock’ and proud of it .
You’ve always blended classic glam rock influences with a modern edge. Which artists or eras shaped this particular album’s sound the most?
– We try to stay true to the CROSSON sound but also try not to repeat ourselves which is always tricky when creating something new. For this album we did try to incorporate a bit of Beast In Black & Battle Beast sounds into some of the songs and fuse that with our brand of catchy melodic glam rock while throwing in some Jim Steinman along the way.
Introduce us your new album!
– Guilty of Rock is our best and most grandiose album date as far as songs and production go. With each album we try to make it better than the last, which is always the most nerve racking thing, however we managed to do it. It starts off with one the heaviest songs we have done ‘Nobody Wins’ and then delivers another nine catchy, song along rock anthems.
Tell us about the songwriting process. Was there a track that came together surprisingly fast—or one that nearly drove you mad?
– They all drove me mad😊 !! There will be times when I might come up with something quickly and think, “ Yeh, That’s cool” and then one of my kids will say “ You used that on a song two album ago.” So then its back to the drawing board. Trying not to repeat myself and come up with something fresh is always the hardest part. At the end of the day, you just need to focus, be in the zone and try different things until it finally works.
How are you planning to bring “Guilty Of Rock” to life on stage? Are we talking new costumes, pyros, or choreography upgrades?
– We recently finished a national tour with Tyketto and showcased the new songs and costumes which went down really well. The choreography was laid out last year for the music videos so it was just a matter of the girls getting up to speed again. For this show, we added four new songs from the new album. During the song ‘Guilty Of Rock’, it starts with police sirens and then the girls come out in skimpy police uniforms. Yes, that turns some heads!! 😊
The band’s image is iconic—face paint, spandex, and glam to the max. How do you keep reinventing the look without losing that classic Crosson vibe?
– Kiss used to change their costumes nearly every album to keep things fresh. That’s pretty much what we do with CROSSON. I work together with our costume designers and makeup artist and every few years ask them to shake thing up bit…. but not too much!! After a meeting or two, Brenda,, our costume designer, will then send me some sketches and ideas. After some back and forth we agree on a final design and then get to work buying the materials and putting it all together.
“Guilty Of Rock” sounds like an anthem for outsiders and diehard rockers. What message are you hoping this album sends to your fans and critics alike?
– Guilty Of Rock is CROSSON at our best in 2025 and we are unapologetic. If someone can listen to it and have a smile on their face, then we have done our job.
Can you walk us through a specific track on the album that you feel best captures the spirit of Crosson in 2025?
– We tend to write uplifting never- give- up, strive- for -success anthems which on this album are Bound For Glory, Warriors Of the World and Our Way Or The Highway. As far as a fun tune preaching the Rock n Roll message, then it would have to be the title track ‘Guilty Of Rock’.
Final verdict: If you’re truly “Guilty Of Rock,” what’s your sentence—and would you do it all again?
– For all the rock and metal fans around the world, past and present, from different walks of life, we are call connected by our love for this genre of music that we so proudly wear on our sleeve. This makes each and every one of you, ‘Guilty Of Rock!! ‘
